About

This site is a never ending progression of thoughts I have, photos I take and projects I'm working on. I'm a self employed developer / designer / artist / photographer and spend my free time reading, drawing, playing my guitars, kayaking, and of course, trying to improve my photography.

Tools
I am a switcher, coming to Mac in 2005. I use a Macbook Pro 17" for everything I do. Textmate is my editor of choice; Transmit for FTP, Netnewswire for RSS, Aperture for photo management and Snitter for Twittering. Although I'm now a Rails only developer by trade, this site is powered by Moveable Type 4.1.

The Dogs
SiblingsI love my dogs. It's funny. I never really thought a person could be so attached to a creature who demands so much attention, but they have grown to be part of the family; my other kids in a sense.

We have a four year old German Shephard, Maya, who has been under my desk and at my feet since she was four weeks old. She's gone through school with honors and has become the smart, loyal dog and protector that we wanted.

The youngest child is Shiloh, our Golden Retriever. Shiloh is just over a year old and thinks he's a Shephard. I guess growing up with one will do that. He is everything a retriever should be; laid back and easy going. I jokingly call him Jeff Spicoli and imagine him having a surfer/skater mentality.

Music and Guitars
I grew up on hardcore (Black Flag, Corrosion of Conformity) and Metal (Exodus, The good Metallica, all the way up to Korn). I still listen to some good metal and follow Henry Rollins, but as I get older I've grown to love less road-rage music and tend to listen more to Jazz; ala John Scofield, Oz Noy, Pat Methany. My guitars have also made the transition. Currently I jump between two guitars. The favorite is my Ibanez AS83. I'm a big guy at 6'2", 220lbs and this fits my huge hands. It plays great and even better now that my friend Mark Focazio has lowered the action. My other guitar is a Godin Solidac which is smaller than the Ibanez, is a dream with dual voicing, one for acoustic and one for electric.
